Summary:
The aim of this system is to create a universal system that can be used to recognize sketches across multiple domains. A major constraint is such systems is the trade off between accurate recognition and freedom of drawing style.

Most previous systems make use of assumptions or limitations on the drawing style to improve recognition which in turn interferes with the user's liberty of design. Some of the challenges the author discusses are incremental nature of sketching ,messiness and segmentation of strokes into shapes.
